This is my 1974 Ford Maverick Grabber. I picked it up a while ago and have slowly been working on it. I'm gonna put up pics of my progress. I eventually would like to make a street legal drag car outta it, but for now I just want to make it where I can drive and enjoy it. The first pics are off of Craigslist and when I went to go look at the car in the rain. This set is when I got her home and put in the garage for a more in depth inspection. As you can see not a bad starting point. I will post more pics later.
"street legal drag car" any street legal car you run at the drag strip is a... "street legal drag car"...
Here are some more pics from the disassembly process. This is one of my favorite parts of the car. I pulled off the drum to look at the brakes and found this. Previous owner also cut the brake lines under the seat area and then stuck a bolt with silicone on it in the line. New Brakes all around and a coat of brake caliper paint on the resurfaced drums. Rear seat painted with Vinyl and Fabric Paint. I put the hood and fenders and doors back on after fixing the small amount of rust under the panels.
Here are some pics of the new engine that I built that is going in it. Also a couple new goodies that are going to installed in the car also. Hand Ported 289 Heads My New .030 Over Pistons A Box full of goodies from a old friend. Might be used but still good stuff regardless. No pics of it but I have rebuilt a Holley 650 carb for this also. I will be using a MSD billet distributor and a mechanical fuel pump. I also have a set of Hooker Competition Headers in my storage shed waiting for this to go in the car. The motor also has a comp cams cam in it. If i remember right it is a 224/224 duration cam. Nothing to wild for now just enough to get it running and driving.
Got some more work done today. Got all my interior test fitted. Still need to rig up some seat brackets for the new seats. Mocked up all my MSD dials and switches, Got the CD player mounted in a new bracket. Also managed to crack my front windshield but it was pretty nasty anyways so I'm not to broken up over it. I also took all the paint off of the cowl cover and primed it.
