This is probably a dumb question, but I'm curious about those square amber lights in the grilles of some mavericks. Were they signals or some kind of accessory light or what? Where they an option or an upgrade or a federal mandate or something else? But more importantly, should my lack of said lights encourage nervous driving?
In the early cars they were sport lamps, with a switch on the dash to turn them on and off. (available on the grabber models, standard mavericks didn't get the grille lamps) In the later cars(74-77) they were turned into turn signals. Your car has the turn signal lights in the valance so you should be set to go! I think 73 was the middle year where they started to appear on all models and not just grabbers.
Well you know, that's what happens when you're quite sleep-deprived and you realize "huh. I've never actually seen my front indicators indicate in person," but now you mention it, I am curious to know what the community thinks of the "big n' squares" (as I shall now call them) aesthetically.
I had those "big and square" on my 70 mav. Found out thru this board that they were not year correct. I got rid of them and moved to below the bumper lights. What year is your grille, 72?
my car has the...park/turn signals...w/amber bulbs... in the grille. the lights below the bumper are...stock '70 lights used as...fog lights... w/2057 bulbs. they are wired to my headlights. when my headlights are on low, they are on high. when my headlights are on high they are on low. this gives a stockish look... ...
