Another brother arrived this week, it's a 71 comet gt, 302 with alloy heads, c4 trans and 9inch true trac rear with 3.88 gears, runs good, it's a clean canvas with a little talc needed.

Thanks John, it looks good in a photo, but could do with a respray. It runs pretty good, does a 12.80 1/4. But it's not Eileen11!(now forged 347 10.6:1) runs an early 12 sec but I think it will make a late 11 with some slicks and better gearing. That's the car close to my heart!!:drive:

You can't see the paint closely enough in the photo. The only think that looks wrong is the mirrors. I assume Eileen is the maverick next to the comet? Yes I would think with a decently built 347 mid elevens would be fairly easy with traction. I have a 347 in my maverick and I will be disappointed if it doesn't perform solidly in the 11's.

It's an honest gt, which makes it a good platform. And yes Eileen is the mav, the 347 is fairly strong, built well with quite a few goodies 595' lift trickflow cam and revs nicely to 6800rpm, I would prefer lower gears than 3.7 and my funnel web manifold but can't bring myself to cut a hole in the hood:cry: so the torker2 will have to do at the moment. Is your 347 going? What gears and set up do you run:Handshake

Mine is running in the car with 5 speed trans and 9" rear with 3.89 gears. I can't drive it yet though because the rest of the car is not complete. I have a much smaller hyd roller cam but it still should perform well. I'm using a victor jr manifold.

Mmm manual gearbox! I purchased a top loader about a year ago, but haven't installed it yet because its a little hard to get parts over here, I got a 1966 falcon pedal box hoping it might work but haven't gone any further. I'm sure your car will be fun when it's all done:thumbs2:
