I'm just going to slow down theirs no need for a drag car in this class because of the street cars its a waste of money i have burn up two sets of slicks and two 55 gal of racing gas this year just no need for it. Just a mild street car on pump gas is the way to go drive it to the track and race and drive it home

when my car broke i ran my 85 chevy dually. in the run for the money round i dialed 18.72 and ran an 18.723. nobody liked lining up against that thing. i could listen to the announcer on the radio. he called it the lumberwagon. i used to wave to the people in the stands. at tech inspection i used to tell them not to worry about anything as i drove it faster getting there than i did on the 1/4 mile.
oh yeah, i lost the run for the money to a dragster with electronics that dialed 9.22 and ran 9.222. cost me $465.:)

the track champion here ran a new Toyota 18 second car and you could say it is electronic. This is what i am talking about. At the end of the year he got back in his race truck ( 11.70) This maverick i am building not sure how it will run it may run fair with the GT 302 roller the old mave is lighter than the mustang gt anyway Rick the track in rusk is having a 1000 n/e 2000 pro sat the 10 anyone looking for a race. They have had a lot of cars showing up for the double pay out race once a month YALL COME we will be their with the race car

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
speaking of cheater items what about use your windshield wiper sprayer fill it with VHT and then run the spray line to your rear tires.. you get the point. ok thats just for cheating on the street :p well from what i've heard.

but either way nothing wrong with a fun race car... slow or not.... i'd rather be chased then chasing. ;)

It really sucks to chase an 18 sec pickup(when you're dialed 14.30)but it also sucks hearing that screaming monster coming up behind.Do you hit the brakes?Stay in it?What kind of light did I cut?I think it's easier to chase a slower opponent myself as long as you concentrate on the tree instead of watching the other car.My worst moment-raced an old crown vic copcar at funford commerce,ga,he was dialed 17.78 & I dialed a 14.64.I cut a .001 redlight and ran 14.64 with a zero! His light was aweful,I had him by the 1,000 ft mark, but since I had redlighted I stayed in it just for kicks.Good luck with the build, just go & ask for a waterpump for a '75 maverick,or any '70's 302 powered ford, pretty sure they were all standard rotation.

I agree with you Tim, it's easier to know what to do running someone down.

Now with that said, if your car runs the dial most of the time then someone else is in for the guessing game.
I saw I license plate frame the other year that read. " YOU ME AND THE TREE"
I guess that says it all.

Fordman I also agree with you, if I was in your shoes I would be running my Lincoln Mark 8 in that class. Drive it to the strip, runs a nice 14.95 at 96 mph
and I can listen to the cd player all the way down the track.

    Dial your car slower!

I love chasing other cars down. It's fun to let off the throttle 50 feet before you get to the opponents car....and still win.
