After alot of soul searching and my pockets not being deep enough to build a Maverick or Comet drag car this season I've decided to build the motor first and put it in a 73 Ford roller that I got at what I think is a steal and will satisfy my addiction to racing. The motor that we are putting together WILL go in a tube chassis Mav next year. Here are the specs: Ford Racing 351W SVO R block, stroked and bored to 427, 9.2 deck height Eagle forged crank, ATI super dampener,Eaton billet flywheel ,all internally balanced. Lentz forged lightweight rods, and CP forged domed pistons. TFS R-series 20 degree canted heads, stage 3 CNC'ed ported, 365i/275e cfm Super Victor intake port matched, Holley Pro-Systems 850 cfm carb customized to flow 1000 cfm 2" primary headers to 4" collectors Compression around 15 to 1 and estimated HP 700+ The 73 model Ford is race ready except for pulling the ladder bars and installing a 4 Link. Anyone want to venture a guess to what the 73 Ford is? Hint: it's smaller than a MAV and it's not a Pinto. I'll post a pic after someone guesses what it is. Terry Hawkins don't you even think about it
The truck weighed less than 2200 lbs with a 347 in it...no driver. It has a Richard Godley custom built C-4 in it, I understand he is renowned in Georgia for his trannys. If it holds up this season a powerglide will sit behind the 427 next year in the Mav. I think we can get the lil truck in the high 5's with no problem.
Rick My car has a Godley`s transmission (Manual c-4) in it too. I like it. Link: http://www.godleytrans.com/index.html
thats cool.. my grandpa had one of those! that thing should hall! they also remind me of the mazda Rotory Power trucks remember those?
