Right now I have the 250/C4 manual in my mav I am about to go to the 87 302. I have all of the parts for the 302 swap finally is there anything else I need to swap it in, will the clutch linkage still work?

What is a C4 manual - clutch linkage??

6 cylinder clutch linkage is completey different - will not work with a V8.

Also - the 87 block will not have any place to mount an equalizer bar pivot - need an early block for that.

If your car is a C4 automatic - no problems.

You're thottle cable will be too long and you need different motor mounts on the frame

Also is that a rear pick-up on the oil pan? I think you might run into trouble if it is. I think you need to switch it over to a front sump???????? If I am wrong I know someone will tell me!

Need an electric fuel pump. There is no fuel pump mounting on the late blocks unless you are going fuel injection then you need a pickup truck FI external pump.
The front pulley system. Wide or narrow.

Will, are you talking about the C4 column shift linkage? If so, the above post tells it all. The 87 block does not have the threaded "hole" for the pivot ball. Also, if you want to check the oil you will need a timing cover with the oil dipstick tube! I may have the V8 column shift automatic linkage if you need it!

Ok, I have a 3 speed on the floor.Right, with a 250 6'er I am putting a 87 302 in so will all I need is the V8 ZBar and a bracket so it will still have a pivot spot? I have the frame to engine mounts, tranny dbl hump crossmember, under engine Xmember, throttle cable and front sump oil pan. I will still need a electric fuel pump and an intake and carb with the zbar and bracket. If I am missing something please let me know.

Will, you are correct. I suggest you use an older timing cover. I used a 74 timing cover so I can still check the oil level. If you run an electric pump just get a block off plate for the fuel pump opening. They cost five dollars. At one time there was someone that was reproducing the V8 Z-bar, otherwise, they are very few and far between. In addition, windsor-fox used to make a Z-bar pivot ball bracket that bolts to the bell housing and properly pistions the pivot ball. I'm not sure if they still carry those. You could go with a cable operated clutch and skip the Z-bar thing entirely! Good luck, I almost forgot, you need the oil pump pickup from a front sump pan setup. The rear sump pickup will not work.

Will; I think AutoKrafters makes the Z-bar for the V-8. Check online at autokrafters.com, or a printed catalogue. I will look tonight and get you a PN#.

FYI - Both the Engine side Pivot and Frame Bracket for the V8 Z-Bar as well as all the bushings are different than the 6-cylinder car ....

I've slowly accumulated everthing but the Z-bar for my Auto to Toploader swap. Although they are reproduced - nobody seems to actually have a Z-bar available. I may have an extra Frame side mount in the near future - but no Pivot ball. Try Perogie enterprises - they may have the Bushings.

Some of the first EFI cars still had the lug for the dip stick you just need to drill it out and put a v8 front dip stick tube in.

Yes your clutch linkage should work you just need the pivit that windsor fox sells to put on your 87 block.
