AC on a 74 Maverick

    Hello all! I have a quick question that I know some of ya'll will be able to answer, I have always come to ya'll with questions and here I am again! I just found a 74 Maverick and its a good one. It doesn't have AC and I was wondering if the engine is strong enough to pull AC. I talked to a mechanic and he said he wasn't sure, so of course here I am asking ya'll. It's got a v6, nothing special, everything is original, not much work has been done on it. It would be great if someone could get back to me! Thanks a lot :wave:

    Sure ... lot's of 250's came with A/C ... including mine ....

    The old lady that had it says that its not a 250, I think its smaller which is why I'm worried. Did yours come with AC or did you put it in? This one doesn't have AC and I'm looking into putting it in.

    Ahh .. sorry ... not sure if A/C was available on anything smaller than a 250 ... Mine is factory.

    My 250 6 cyl came from the factory with AC.....no problems.

    Can't say I have every seen a small 6 cyl with factory AC.

    71 grabber red and black; 74 2dr LDO comet
    a geo 3 cyl comes with a/c as did my dads mid 70 4cyl alfa romeo. all depends on how good your mechanic is.

    I have a '70 and a '74 parts car with a 200 6 that had factory a/c. Don't know how well they ran. The '70 is an automatic and the '74 is a manual transmission.
