So now when i start off the car kinda fumbles around until i let off the gas and put my foot on it again then it goes just fine, its really only when im starting off and doesn't happen every time, from what ive read im guessing this is the accelerator pump? does it need to be adjusted or replaced?

If it's the stock autolite 2V carb it's a pretty common problem with them. You would need to replace the pump. You'll probably have to buy a whole kit just to get it though. I'd ask though...years ago you could just buy the pump. Might get lucky. Before you install the pump back on the carb make sure the pump housing is not warped from being overtightened. It will leak like hell. You can lay it on a good flat surface and tap it back flat using a small hammer and wide blade screwdriver. Doesn't take much just as it doesn't take much to overtighten it.
