just as the title suggests, add a works in progress forums where everybody can see what you are working on and chime in with their ideas and whatnot. Also, check FordMuscle's design, I love it and have my 72' Comet Roadster showing in it.

i was just checking out your car on ford muscel last night. you may have seen the link i posted to this site. i really like their set up with the "project car" section

heres a link to their forum so you can see what he's talking about

    http://www.fordmuscle.com/forums/makin-progress/

if we do go through with that on this site i think it would be even better if it was devided up into diffrent sections like with the virtual car show. correct restos, serious racers, street cars, ect. thats just my 2 cents

I like what newtoford said about breaking it up, but you HAVE to have the pics next to the threads! I think one of the admins takes them out of the thread and moves them to where you can see them before opening the tread itself.

And about what I am doing...

I'm taking a bone stock 72 4door with a 302 / c4 that had been wrecked to the point that it wasn't worth repairing, and cutting it down into a "roadster" I'm cutting out the middle unibody section, and in doing so, cutting out the front doors. Then Im welding 1/4" steel along the entire frame, triangling it and supporting it with 2" square stock. I'm lowering the firewall, the sides (I'm actually cutting a different shape out of the rear quarters that will hopefully resemble a 65 falcon's quarters) cutting most of the trunk's area out, shortening the front frame, and sectioning the front fenders. I'm going to custom fabricate all the interior pieces out of fiberglass, and I'm using bucket seats I robbed out of a 88 Carolla. I'm lowering the steering wheel, using a new wheel, installing a sound system, 17" wheels, tubbed rear, rebuilding the c4 myself, rebuilding the 302, 2 1/2" dual exhaust (toying with sidepipes). I'm going to add a over the head roll bar behind the seats that will act as a frame for a miata style canvas top.

I agree, everything I own is a work in progress.

    New Muscle,

Just saw your thread over there ... really enjoying seeing your build progress... very inventive ... can't wait to see further progress. Since you removed the roof, I think you are on the right path for stiffening the chassis up. You might want to consider Mustang convertible rocker panel reinforcements, too. I am pretty sure those can be had aftermarket.

A lot of four-door 55-57 Chevys got shortened and converted into two door/two seat cars around 1970. It seemed that most all of them took the front half of the front doors and back half of the back doors to make it work with the fenders and rear wheelwell.

Good luck with it, and start posting it over here too, OK? Might stir up some controversy, but most everyone here are really good folks ... I think there would be quite a bit of interest.

Now back to the topic of the thread ... LOL ... a "Work in Progress" section could be cool, but I think we pretty well cover it in General anyway. I don't ever think I have been "finished" with a car ... just prolonged periods of "stalled" ... LOL

Can you have a "project" car that is really finished? It wouldn't be a project car anymore, would it?:hmmm:
