I was wondering if the timing Chain cover with the dipstick in the front cover will fit on a 1983 302 engine? If it does fit any suggestions on how to plug the dipstick hole in the block?

It will fit no problem.(common swap) Get a soft plug or rubber plug to fit the hole on the block.

Thanks for the PROMPT Reply, I thought that it would... but then started thinking about them changing rear main seals and started to wonder if they had changed anything on the front seals too. Again... thanks. Phil

You don't have to change the cover. On the passanger side of the engine there is a casted in boss for the dip stick that has not been drilled just drill the proper size hole for the dip stick tube and your done . As for the dip stick tube hole in the block any good parts store should have a freeze plug ( welch or oil galley plug ) the size you need I think it is 3/8'' plug .

p.s. drill the hole in the cover under size for a tight fit ( no oil leaks )
