I would like to start this thread and have everyone post a picture of where they have placed their aftermarket guages and tachs, etc. I especially want to see as picture of where Dan Hines has placed his guages in relation to the grabber light switch. I am getting ready to put guages in my car and I thought this would be a helpful thread/FAQ. When I get mine installed....I will post a picture as well. Thanks
Here ya go Craig .... This is the generic two guage pod that I think is meant to go on the dash ... lots of places sell them on the internet ... singles, duals and triples ... I filled it with two Electric AutoMeter Guages ... oil pressure and water temp. This particular pod fits perfect in a standard package tray and it is held in place with double sided emblem tape. It will not fit in the slimmer A/C tray ... which I think you have .. I was thinking about putting this same setup in my yellow car but I have the A/C tray as well ...
Where I have mine: http://5hp.hill.cc/maverick/72Mav/11.jpg (gauge laying on trans tunnel will be gone soon) Dad's old Comet: http://5hp.hill.cc/hotrod/page 10/inside2.jpg edit 12/17/07: above site is long gone, below are a couple of the pics I was pointing to:
Well, it won't let me post mine, because it's already posted in another thread: http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?t=18505
Craig; When I got my car, the dash was hacked up pretty bad, so I decided to put the gauges in the dash. Later, Earl
Frank, that is awesome! How is the speedometer connected? Does it have some kind of sensor that goes in place of the speedo cable? That looks really cool.
jamie, i like your tach placement. whats it like for glance factor? mine is currently on the old strap to the steering wheel, but it blocks the slower part of my speedo (bad in a 25-35 zone town)
It's easy to look at while driving or anything. No diffrent then glancing down at the radio to put in a CD or change the station. It's out of the way. I like it there alot. I don't think I would ever put one on the steering colum, just seems out of place and in the way to me.
