Today, Earl, Jamie, and I rode to Gadsden, Alabama and met up with Jerry and his lovely wife. The omission of the word lovely in front of the rest of any of the other names is no mistake. Jerry brought a pickup truck load of jun...er, huh...rare Maverick parts to swap for my pickup truck load of jun...er, huh...even more rare Maverick Parts. It was a nice visit and we almost had good entertainment. Earl and I were hoping to see the "old retired guy" give the "kid" a whipping for leaving a bellhousing back in Atlanta. Oh, well. Maybe next time. Here's a pic of all of us standing beside Jerry's extended cab Maverick. It is too, a Maverick. Do you not see the club sticker in the window?
I got a rebuilt C4 for my car, Terry got a not so new C4 for his future drag car, and I got a 200 6 cylinder that looks to be in pretty good shape and will probably go in either my '76 or my '72 when I get it. I need a hair cut, bad. Had a good time, spotted several Mavericks. Jerry, I will overnight that bell housing first thing Monday morning. Can't believe I ran off and forgot it. Blame it on Terry, I was busy rounding up his parts this morning when it slipped my mind.
I'm also getting several hours of work out of Jamie. I swapped Jerry a took apart, been in my basement for years 351W and a 9" housing out of a '66 Bronco for two C-4's, one rebuilt and ready to go and one to be rebuilt. I traded Jamie the rebuilt C-4 for work. I couldn't help it. I saw him standing at a busy Atlanta intersection with a sign that read "Will work for C-4." That almost got him trouble. Some guys in dark suits, wearing sunglasses, and driving black Suburbans, was asking him what he wanted to do with the plastic explosives.
Yea, I get to go see Terry again tomarrow. Can you guys believe I can actually live through seeing him 2 days in a row? I know I can't. Despite popular believe, I ran 65-70 most of the way down there and back today in the Mav and it didn't self destruct. The clunkity clunk did get a little old though going around I-285, which has turned out to be the lower rubber bushing where the front passenger side shock comes down and connects to the upper A-arm. I know, it's super dangerous to have a dry rotted shock bushing and I'm sure I will loose control of my car at 80+ mph in my neighborhood and kill multiple animals and people. Sorry, just had to do a little "ribbing" there.
Ohh, I owe a huge thanks to Earl for the nice small back bumper he gave me today. Couldn't have gotten a better deal then that! It'll get put to good use.
I got nothing....but a good time, and I got to see Jerry and Faye again. We'll all see them again at the FFW in April.
