The front of my passenger door needs to come out about 3/16", I've done searches and I've found out how to adjust it every other way except inward and outward... I'm sure I could figure something out if I just screw with it enough but with the weight of those doors I don't want to mess with it any more than need be. Thank you.
I close the door, remove the plastic fender inner liner and adjust the hinge through there. is the fender adjusted to the cowl?
Can you put shims between the hinge and A-pillar? Do one hinge at a time. With the door closed, loosen the top hinge through the fender and shim it out. Repeat with the lower hinge.
You should line the door up with the B pillar/rear quarter first ( If you havent allready done so) Then line it up to the rocker panel to get a uniform gap at the botom. Once you have that accomplished you line the front fender to the door and hood. Its easier to move the fender around and get it to line up, than trying to get the door to match the rest of the panels. Good luck... You shouldnt have to shim the door hinges off the A pillar.
The gap around the door is fine its just the part that I mentioned above (top/back of front fender to door by side view mirror) that needs to be moved outboard a little...
That adjustment is with the bolts that hold the hinges to the door. Loosen the bolts and the door should move in and out.
Do like frank said, assuming the fender is correctly aligned. You can adjust the in/out by loosening the bolts that attach the door to the hinges. Even with the door closed you may want to shim between the front door and rocker panel so the front of the door does not drop while you are trying to adjust it.
Dont forget on these cars you kind of have to find a happy median. The body panels arent exactly a great fit. LOL.
