    guy with all this talk about my heads as being as problem ,i found a set of Allan root racing heads ,194 intake ,160 exhaust ,hevy springs (was for a .700 lift) hydraulic roller rockers will this do the job for my 347 stoker im talking about in the thread What intake/what exhaust, help a brother out ,can get these heads with roller rockers and girdle complete ready to bolt on for 900.00 :cheers:Jimmy2gates

    Never knew that Root made any small block pieces. I was aware of the Boss 429 parts though.

    Root's specialty was Boss 429's engines, but yes, he did some small block stuff too

    Alan Root did make small block heads back in the 80's. They are fairly rare. If they are ready to bolt on, that price seems pretty decent. I remember that with a high lift cam and heavy springs, the rocker stud could be pulled out on these heads. If you are going to run a huge cam, you may want to think twice about it. A smaller cam would be fine. Casting and other factors have come a long way on producing aluminum since then.

    I'm not familiar with these particular heads. If they are indeed from the 80's I would probably pass on them as stated before, the technology has come quite a ways since then. I would hit some of these fox body Mustang sites and try to locate some Edelbrocks or AFR's or even the Ford GT40x heads. You should be able to source some on the used market for the same price you found these for.
