Well its that time of the year again for the always in April swap meet in Portland Oregon. This is the largest swap meet west of the Mississippi and starts today and goes through Sunday. You cant see it all in one day as it is in 2 locations that are next to each other PIR a road course race track and the Expo center, people come from all over the world for this event. As usual weather is iffy so bring some rain gear and an extra pair of shoes
I might wander down. Darn thing is the same weekend as the rent check is due this year though and I had to blow my car savings on 2 new(to me) cars already this year... Then again I'm pretty depressed about my car atm as it's looking very much like I'm gonna have to sell it on, so I'll probably sit at home and watch wrestlemania instead.
Boss left today and headed over, he's getting into the 50th anniversary and staying in the hotel he used to stay in when he first went. Sounds like it's in a shady part of town so I wished him luck. Been quite some time since I have been, need to get back after it and see what's there to be had.
Spent the day at the track today, not much for Maverick parts though a few tail lights and some sport mirrors is all I saw, I was mainly looking for Falcon parts and they were slim pickings also. Didnt get rained on until 4:00 that was good Going back tomorrow if I can still walk to check out what Expo has to offer probably going to get wet but at least there are buildings to go in.
I saw a white big bumper 2 door on the West side of the walkway between buildings B and C. I didn't have a chance to check it out.
It was in very good condition, didnt see if it was a v8 car or not bench seat, they were asking $3,600 for it, I believe that was the only Maverick or Comet for sale at both meets
A friend sent me a picture of a Torino Type N/W that was there. It was the same color as the one I had and same engine too. Wish I had kept that car.
Yeah they are a cool car, hardly ever see them. I had a chance to buy one but was a day late and a dollar short There was no shortage of nice cars or not your average run of the mill cars at the swap meet. I was sitting in a booth and a guy came buy with a fiberglass shell miniature size of a 64 Falcon 2 door wagon like I have on his cart, I offered him double what he payed for it but no dice. I dont know what I would have done with it but I thought it was cool, I guess he did too. I pulled the gas cap for a full sized wagon out of my pocket and he asked were I got I just smiled and told him the same thing he told me about where he got the car-----down the track. These gas caps are hard to find and cost $150.00 for a good one
The white maverick was a 200 6 cyl car and was very nice The guy who owned it was the second owner . He was asking $3800 I will try and post some pics when i get them off my phone.
Worst part of the Torino I had is it was unmolested, original paint and I only paid $100 for it and drove it home. Had I known then how rare they are I would still have it.
See the problem was I already had my project and this was just one that came along. No way would it ever replace my GTO. Boy was I wrong, it should have replaced that car!
