Well guys I finally got to the track with the new stickies on the car. I had no intention of racing...just wanted to see what the car would do with the new tires. I put down 3 times, a 9.70 a 9.73 and a 9.74...if she ain't nothin she is consistent. Then the announcer started talkin about this Gamblers Race thingy and it got my attention so I entered. 12 cars entered...mostly late model Mustangs. I dialed in a 9.72 on my qualifying run and got a bye cause I had the fastest reaction time on a Pro Tree light...not bad considering I never ran a Pro Tree light. To make a long story short, 3 races, 3 wins and it comes down to me and 2 late model Mustangs...both 6.5 second cars. I blow it on the run and break out by over a full tenth of a second with a 9.60 flat....I could tell it was my fastest run of the night but I wouldn't let off of it hearing the footsteps of the Stang coming from behind. I had made a A/F adjustment on the carb prior to the run because the temperature had dropped 20 degrees from the time of my first run. It's 12:30 in the A.M. on my last run...and I placed 3rd...what an awesome feeling having the only street car in the race and doing so well my first time. While the cars not fast by track standards by any means it is a crowd favorite...lotsa folks want to look at the car and I had 3 offers to buy it...I was nice about it but not a chance in he!! of that happening. Here's the time slip on my losing run....worst reaction time of the night but best overall.
I remember the first time I ever ran a pro light. Was looking at the top of the tree until a dude came over and asked me what was doin. Then he explained, I was all of 18 and nervous as you know what. Dan
Dan I'm dumb as a rock when it comes to this stuff, If I had'nt asked about the light I would've been caught flatfooted. I was sittin in the bye lane after the qualifying run and noticed all the other cars had times marked on their windows:confused: I had to borrow some marker paint
