Yup! Saved another one! Bought this little beauty about 12 years ago at the Carlisle swap meet. 1971 Mercury Comet GT. Previous owner installed a shift kit and true dual exhaust on the 70000 mile 302 2bbl. I pumped up the A/C with R134 and she blew ice cold! Shes an awesome little pocket rocket! But sadly after driving her on and off the past 10 years, time took its toll. She started eating front tires and wouldn't keep an alignment. Then she developed an Exxon Valdez type transmission leak. It was coming out as fast as I was pouring it in. Being a V8 car with dual exhaust it was impossible to fix in the car. So starting late in 2017 I decided to pull the drive train.
Plus all this needed fixed. I figured if I'm going to pull the drive train I might as well fix the fender aprons too. Boy, did I ever under estimate what fixing a few rusty spots would turn into!
Welcome from central VA! Post some pictures of the rest of the car. The 25th annual MCCI (Maverick Comet Club International) Roundup Nationals is going to be held in Lynchburg, VA from July 24-28. If you get your car finished by then bring it on down. I'm hosting the event and will be glad to answer any questions you may have about the event.
Thanks eveyone! I'm behind in posting A lot of pics! I actually just got the cowl welded back on and am waiting on some apron repair parts from Joe. I'll post some picks soon. I do have a blog with other pics of some of the work that I'm doing. Not sure if I'm allowed to share the blog address on here or not.
