I went to put air in my tires and accidentally filled them with diesel fuel........no wait......thats a different thread. Sorry Dan!! Actually when I pulled my rear springs out to be dearched, one of the clamps that hold the emergency brake cable away from the tire broke. Its been sitting on my bench for months waiting for me to fix and install it. I figured when I put it all back together there would be no hurry because the brake cable couldnt possibly hit the tire as stiff as it is. Well, comming home last night it sounded like the rear was slightly making a grinding noise. Come to find out the cable had worked its way between the tire and spring. You can see the marks on the spring where it was vibrating up & down plus the groves in the tire. Luckly none of the grooves are deep enough to worry about. Needless to say it is now fixed properly. Dont over look the simple stuff.
If I could snap my fingers and change anything about Dan's episode, it would be that it happended to Frank instead.
Be it known to all, and from this day forward, your friends of the MAVERICK MESSAGE BOARD DUB THEE "DIESEL DAN"!
Terry ...you might wanna remember that if you ever buy another car from Frank...and when you come to pick it up he says... "I went ahead and filled it up for ya old buddy"
I like the mods on those tires. Where can I buy "striped tires" like that? All the ricers would drool in their drawers if they saw my mav with "striped tires". Better than those wheels with the yellow stripe on them, for sure.
Mike, I hope, sincerely hope, that I am not buying anymore Mavericks. Besides, my first destination, after taking delivery of the previously purchased Mavericks, was the gas station. Aftert that first Maverick purhcase, where the throttle stuck wide open on me on the trip home and Frank said, "Oh, I forgot to tell you that it does that," I keep on high alert. You know, fool me once.....
One of my e-brake cable clamps broke awhile back. I put one of those long thick wire tie straps on it. I guess I should check on it.
wanna hear a good story? when i went to saudi arabia the first time ( been there 2 times) i was driving our little 40 person bus around.... some of them are gas and some of the are diesel...well i took it to the BX, on the other side of dhahran air base. and it was running low on (fuel) so i decided to stop off at a fuel bladder... looked on the dash...no fuel label... looked under the fuel door...no label...got out the drivers manual ( mind you this is a saudi vehicle ( i dont speak arabic))...i saw soemthing in english that said unleaded fuel... got it.. filled it full of unleaded... got about 300 yards and looked out the rear view and asked myself why is it smoking so bad... hmm...did i get the right fuel.... put it this way....my nickname was diesel for the last 3 months there.. hint: always know what type of fuel goes in the vehicles you are driving...even if you think you know...get a second opinion...
The rattle of a diesel engine is a dead giveaway. no, come to think of it, some of our mavs may rattle just as much...
hmm..lok under the hood.....this was when i was 19....only been in the AF for 1 year....always took the car to get work done....spark plugs? lol....i never thought to look for spark plugs.... and the rattle( at that age...doesnt everything sound the same and have the same rattle?). yeah....lessons are good...when you learn from them...
