Some days I'm just plain stupid…………………….

So I take the ol' gal down to the DIY wash and find a line a mile long. Plan B, I figure I'll do a quick drive through and sprits the windows afterward (I was running out of time). On the way to the drive through, I have the thought, you better put that antenna down…. I then rationalize…. Hey the old lady who had it before me must have taken through a car wash because I couldn't see her doing a hand wash… Logical Know??? I then think, whatever… I'll just take it through.

I'm such a dumb _ _ _ …….. Yep, snapped it right off.. Then I roll down the window in a panic to grab it Because you know it can always get worst… Yep… I get soaked, the front seat gets soaked all while trying to wrestle what's left of the antenna from the machine…..

On the bright side, I got her all cleaned up! Happy Turkey Day Fellas!

Wow...could have been worse though, it could have gotten snagged in the spinning machine and beat the snot out of your Maverick!

He could have been snatched out of the window, tangled in the machine and beaten on the Maverick... Not a pleasant thought...

BTW contrary to popular belief the cable will unplug from the bottom of the antenna, as long as you are replacing with a OEM antenna will save a bunch of time vs fishing it through...

Yeah I thought of it because this guy I knew took his late model pickup through one and didn't remove his CB radio antennae, he just thought he could bend it over and tuck it in the bed, yep the kind with the huge spring! ....he came out of the wash with major dents and a busted rear window, I saw his truck and man was it tore up!

Me too. Worst I ever saw was a ragged out Chrysler station wagon with woodgrain trim. It snatched off nearly every piece of trim surrounding the woodgrain. :rofl2:

Second worse was a cable installers truck. He had a bunch of short sections of cable....needless to say they all ended up wrapped around the brushes. They also beat the crap out of the truck.

Got an antenna off an LTD (the base is the same) except it has the screw in antenna. Looks pretty good. Also found a pair of tail lights, a horn button (orange color) not my interior color but thought somebody could use it. I got two footwell lights and trunk lights from a couple of crown vic's. Pretty good day!
