    1974 Mercury Comet 200 6 2door
    Last year I purchased a 1974 Mercury Comet 2 door it has the 200 I-6 with NO Power Steering, No Power Breaks, No AC it has the C4 Transmission and a Colum Shifter. I would like to put a 302 V8 in it. I have read the Post from Country Mav but would like to know if there will be anything different that I would need to do with my swap based on the information I have provided. I have found somewhere that I can get a complete 302 v8 in good runnning condition. I would also like to add Dual Exhaust. I want to start by just putting in a basic 302 then building up so any help would be great. Thank you very much for your time and help. I hope that someday I will be able to help out a rookie like my self.

    Howdy Mikey, Howdy and :Welcome: to the board. These cars came with the 302 as an option.....you have made a very wise upgrade. Good luck with the project and keep us posted.

    I don't know the specifics, but trust me, there is plenty of info on here if you do a search. Only thing I can think of is make sure you have the correct flexplate...

    It will be a very rewarding modification, once you have it done...:D

    You have a relatively easy swap (based on your red text).

    I suspect (and promote) you'll want to go to a floor shift (good decision). No prob. There's plenty of sources, depending on how original you want the car to look.

    Using the search feature, you've already learned of the components you'll need to make the swap. If you have more than than a little mechanical aptitude, experience, skill, and the right tools, it won't be a difficult task.

    Get all the swap parts (as you've already found what the items are that you need), and as we say in Texas;

    "Grab the bull by the horns and let the chips fall where they may!"

    Good luck. Let us know your progress and if you have any difficulties.

    Don you are correct, the bell from the 200 will not fit, the one from a 250 will.
