    Got a '77 Today. Anybody have a '70 or '75?

For Christmas, my wife let me buy Frank's (71gold) '77 Maverick today. He's already done everything to a big bumper car that I was going to do for my daughter's car, so this is going to save me a lot of time and probably a lot of dollars. That hopped-up six-banger he put in that car is as quick, if not quicker, than a stock 2bbl 302. I did find one little problem though...

As I was punching it to get on the interstate, I found myself with a stuck, wide open throttle.:cussing: I cut the ignition and pulled off on the shoulder. I called Earl ( he met with me and Frank) because I had his number in my cell phone. He got in touch with Frank. By the time Frank called I found the problem and fixed it. I believe his first words were, "Oh, yeah. I forgot to tell you not to push it to the floor." :coco: Thanks Frank.

Oh, Frank, one more thing. Thanks for selling me such a good car for my daughter.

I also picked up Tony's '76 Maverick parts car today. Thanks, Tony:clap:

To my Maverick friends...stay tuned for my yard sale after the Holidays. :2_thumbs_

The ole stuck throttle cable. I borrowed a carb from a former buddy and it decided to stick wide open. He said it worked perfect when he took it off.:16suspect He failed to mention that was 5 years prior..............did I mention he was a former buddy.....:slap: ........

Terry; glad you are enjoying the new car. Let me know when you decide to sell off all that stuff, might want to do some shopping! Just glad you made it home without any more problems. You should have a grove full of parts to fix whatever the problem is. Take care,

    earl,
thanks for telling terry, what i told you to tell him if he asked. he said what you said was why he bought the car. i will settle up with you the next time i see you.
terry, the tire on the right rear is new, i put a new brake pad on the inside right front so the front brakes should be o.k. the guy i got the car from said he has replaced the long shoes on the rear drums..said the short shoes were still good.
he said the trans. has been rebuilt...a guy came over to his house and drained the trans. fluid and put a can of something in it for $37.50, said it hasn't slipped at all from that time (2years).
m.a.v., that upper ball joint nut you glued on for me yesterday held on all the way to atl. i would not have thought it would have made it out of the driveway...thanks (y) ... it is nice to know people that can save you a few bucks.
so all this being said i think you got .... just a min. let me get to the bank first... i will talk to you later..good luck...your friend frank...(y)

Okay. I'm starting to feel snookered here. I was told ------------- and ***********. Now, I see that the real story is .............. and ......... Have I been scammed by Frank. :hmmm: If so, that doesn't surprise me. :smash:

But, Earl! I thought Earl was my friend. I thought something might have been up when Frank insisted that "we" (I added $100 to the pruchase price) pay Earl for meeting with us and acting as a witness. :banghead3

Way too much fun. :biglaugh:  :yippee:

Dan, with everything I now have. I have a grand total of three shrouds, the V-8 on on my '73 (keeper), one for a six-banger on the '77 (keeper), and one on the '76 (not sure about it, yet). But, I'll guarantee you that if I have an extra six-bager shroud, it will be offered to you first. We've gone too far in our car and parts swapping for me to do anything less.(y)
