I know computer monitor settings will vary. But does anybody know what yellow this is? I'm thinking it is called Chrome Yellow.
It's always kind of hard to tell exactly what a color is from a photograph, but from the looks of it it may be chrome yellow or Corvette yellow.
Here's a link that might help you. I'm sure with it being a Shelby it's probably the original color so it's not gonna be called Chrome Yellow.I think it's the one called Competition Yellow for 1970. http://www.yellowmustangregistry.com/History.html
That is the newer chrome yellow. Back in the 60's and 70's there was a darker yellow called chrome yellow. Almost a school bus yellow. Look for it on the truck paint chips (Econoline Van color code G-TRUCK).
I agree with dmhines...I also say Grabber Orange...painted a friends '72 Grabber that colour a few years back.
Another thing too that makes it more difficult, is looking at that Shelby and the long light reflections in the paint, makes me think it was parked under fluorescent lights. In a camera lens that will alter the color looks too. Here are a couple of paint chips from 1970 colors. The truck chips have the chrome yellow and the car chips have the Grabber orange. They are close - thanks averyone for the opinions.
Ooooohhh ... and with the yellow NASCAR Goodyears too ... (they have discontinued those) Dan that is a very good match .. I would say that the Grabber Orange is it!
that yellow has a lot of orange in it.........you can take the picture you have to a paint shop and they can put a color spectrometer on it and tell you all the colors in it.... just print out the picture and save it to a floppy and take the picture and floppy to the paint shop. the nascar tires are available through summit racing.....at least they have them in my summit racing magazine i got for christmas. i think they have yellow and white nascar lettering
Good tip - according to Goodyears web site, yellow has been discontinued. So I'm sure that there are still plenty on shelves out there, if somebody wanted a set, but they are not making new ones. I have seen test reports that are not real favorable on traction with that tire, but I do like the racing look on the right paint job.
The only problem with trying to print out the color is that different moniters will show the yellow in different shades. It depends on how they are calibrated. What you print out may not look like what you see on the moniter. Another thing to consider is that different light angles and intensities can make some colors appear to darker or lighter. In the photo, the Grabber Orange Mach 1 almost looks yellow. Keep that in mind if you take a picture to a place that mixes paint. If you can, take a look at the chip books outside in natural light to see what the colors really look like.
The Mustangs in the pics look like 2 totally diffrent colors to me, just because of the lighting, cloudy versus sunny skies.
When I worked for a utility contractor in college, that color was called 'School Bus Yellow Chrome'. I know that because when it rained, I helped out around the maintenance shop-including the paint shop. Seth
