Intake manifold with clear after blasting it clean ? I Did it to one a long time ago and the clear engine paint turned yellow after a short time.

I want to clear coat it to make it resistant to oil /dirt stains But if there isnt a paint out now that won`t "yellow" I guess it will have to be powder coated.

I wonder how it would hold up to engine heat. I leave mine unpainted. Carb cleaner and a old tooth brush keep it looking new.

I put the Eastwood clear on my intake on my station wagon. I drive this car about once a week. I drive it to Columbus, OH twice a year, once a year to Carlsile, PA, and numerous other trips. While it has not turned yellow in the year I have had it on there.....the intake doesn't necessarily look "new" either. Take that for what it is worth.

    mike,

back in my "show bike" days i used "alumiblast" high heat paint on my Harleys.
the part looked like it had just came out of a glass beader. you can also get "cast blast" it looks like a freshly dipped motor. plain bare metal. you can get it at a.z, advance and pep boys...frank...:bouncy:

Yeah, me too I swear by Alumiblast.......its the closest to cast aluminum I've seen. I blasted and painted my Torker 289 with it a year ago and it still looks new. In fact I sprayed my alternator and transmission with it and they still look new. GREAT STUFF

I had my intake Jet-Hot coated 3 or 4 years ago, about 12,000 miles on it, still looks like it did when I got it back.
