I've ran these heads on some stroked Chevy's with great results. Have any of you ran them in comparison to AFR's or Twisted wedge heads ? I have ran several variations and like the Canfileds and AFR's the best. I've also had good results with Trick Flow but have read some bad reviews as of late ? Edelbrock heads are an option but everyone and there brother runs them now so I'd like to build this motor a bit different....keep them guessing...LOL. :D

I'm running Trick Flows and love em. I'm not aware of any problems with them either.

I know a guy with them on a 351W. I don't know which versions. He said they weren't great on torque-although he has a fairly stout cam. He said they seem to flow really well in the upper range. He said he would go with Edelbrock or others on a street car if he were building another.

    Sounds about correct

In my experience if your not twisting them up pretty high the big runner heads have know benefit actually can hurt you. They are made for a lot of flow and solid cams, they do make some smaller runner heads that are better on the street, one of the head desings looks this way for the 5.0, smaller runners should perform nicely on the street. Would sure be nice to hear from an owner with a Ford though.

I have a set on my 302. I find them to make good power. I havent had any problems with them. I bought them bare ,and installed 1.94/1.60 lightweight undercut valves. If you buy them assembled they will be 2.02 intakes. I have a completely stock, and fresh bottom end with a FMS F cam and these heads, holley 650 on a victor jr. I made 330 RWHP.
    I went 11.61/116 in a 2760# car.

that's not to damn bad !

330 RWHP.....that's pretty good if you ask me (y). What's the cam specs and what are you twisting it up to ? I don't have a lot of Ford experience but this sounds like they are as good if not beter than my experience with them on many sbc's. Are they the cnc'd chambers, etc. or the standard 5.0 version? thx appreciate the info!

    F303 cam is 226, 226 duration with .512 lift, 109 lobe sep

A very streetable cam. At the track I yank that shifter at 6400. Reliable and torquey.

    just out of curiosit

    >>
thx appreciate the specs, what kind of fuel mileage do you get just running around........ just curious, (for some comparisons I've dealt with in the past), not going to make a difference, but I like to keep track of several set ups before I decide exactly what I'm going to do with mine. THX:clap:

I have AFR 165 comp. heads they are awsome. I went from 12.98 @ 102 to 11.97 @ 113 with just the head change. I also had them flowed on a superflow 600 when I bought them just to see if there what AFR clamed. They were right on the money 250cfm @ 600 lift Int. and 225 @ 600 on exh. and the mid lift numbers were very good. Also the guy that sold and flowed the heads for me said AFR is one of the best heads when it comes to quality and clenlyness and oout of the box performance.

I run a set of Canfields on my Mav which is set up for the street and is a relatively mild build and produces 325 hp at the wheels...there also pretty versatile...I've seen these heads on a 302 with twin turbos in Mustangs run 8.50 in the 1/4.
I also run a set of Trick Flow "R" heads on my drag car which is a small block but I wouldn't recommend them for the street.

I cracked my canfields the length of the heads with 30lbs of boost on my sbf..Switched to AFR225 and never looked back..Made the same rwhp numbers out of the box with a spring and retainer change..

BTW, the Jegs head is the same as the Canfield 170, Jegs just has them put their name on 'em.

Killercomet - what heads are you comparing the AFR 165 comps to?

    Wow.
That's a hell of a lot of power for a stock bottom end and such a mild cam.
Now you have me thinking about getting rid of these RPMs of mine.
