I have my 250 in the machine shop and ordered my AOD.

Doing this swap with a column shift.

The builder called and asked if there is a preference or requirement for the shift lever position. Does the shift lever on the transmission have to be up or down for this to work with the stock linkage?

It depends, I've seen both types of positions. You need to see that on your tranny.

Never seen a column shift lever pointed down, usually they are are on a 45* angle pointing upward toward the front of vehicle... C4 floor shift levers generally point almost straight up while the cable AOD type point downward...

never seen one hooked to stock column linkage. we just flipped the shift lever (down) in an AOD to hook the floor shift cable up.

I forgot to update this thread. To hook up an AOD to the column shifter, The lever has to be down.
