yes... if the Maverick is a rust bucket and its a perfect condition comet... maybe.
it just depends on what you want. id guess they cost more from the dealer, but probably not much. after all, its the same car just a different hood, grille, bumper, tailpanel, stuff like that. if anything, its just kinda a little more luxury lookin car than the maverick. all cosmetic. (at least, so far as i know.)

They made less Comets so they are obviously worth more. Especially combined with the superior front and rear styling and swanky emblems.

    I say 'no'.
They are my preference. But the Maverick is more popular no matter what the numbers are.

I would say its definetly worth more but keep in mind they didnt make anywhere close to the same numbers of comets as they did mavericks. Most people have heard of a maverick but fewer people even know what a comet is. Any time you have less of something it usually ends up costing more.

Maybe someone knows the productions numbers but its something like 350K ford vs. 56K comets. Anyone else know for sure?

Guys ... using the "they made less of them so they are worth more" logic makes no sense ... They made less Cougars than Mustangs too ... but we all know where the values are ... Pretty sure the same holds true with Camaro's vs. Firebirds too ...

FYI .. the car that got me STARTED into this whole Maverick thing was my first car ... a 1974 COMET LDO 3-spd Floor shift with a 250 ... so I have to give Comets are Thumbs UP for that ..

According to the appraisal amounts are cars(average Mavs and Comets) are worth about the same as a Pinto. Figure that one out. They should be more but the market for our cars is small. Hopefully in the future the price goes up. The muscle cars are getting beyond reach even for wrecks. Go price a Chevelle or Nova as a project. They've taken a real jump in the last decade.
Most of us dont build our cars as an investment anyhow but the appraisal values would be nice for insurance purposes.
Big bumper Grabber has been on Ebay for a long time trying to get 10-11000 dollars. Tough sell on a big bumper 6 cylinder car. Someone may eventually think its worth it and scoop it up. I dont think you would get that 10 g's back if something happened to it though.
Mav or Comet they are all worth more money than they bring. Its the same chassis as some of Fords highest valued muscle cars. Although a lot of people think they are on a Pinto/Mustang 2 chassis. That one drives me nuts. Those 2 chassis arent even close. Not knocking the Pinto/Mustang2 chassis. I wish mine had a rack.
Oh and for the record I prefer the small bumper Comets. Remind me of a down sized Cyclone. Cant stand my Pinto/Mav tail lights. Thats the only part of my Mav I truly dislike but accept it as a Maverick trait.

Thats because your not comparing the same bodied cars.

Comparing cougars and mustangs isnt fair. Keep it in the same body line and less usually equals more
"S" coded mustangs are worth more than a more popular 428 cobra jet. Why? because they made less than 50K of them.

Either way the price on mavericks and comets is only going to go up. Your starting to see more and more of these cars hitting the 10-15K range. Who can afford a 70K challenger or a 130K superbird, these are really the only cool alternative to a good looking 70's car thats affordable.

Early Cougars and Mustangs are sister cars .... :16suspect

Your analogy would be comparing Maverick Grabbers, Maverick Sprints, Maverick Stallions to standard Mavericks.

Besides ... SETH is the COMET GOD .. and he has spoken! :)
