Cooler Temps and lower humidity have finally made it to this part of the country.
I expect temps and humidity to be the lowest I've ever had with the Comet tonight at the track...60 degrees/60% RH and hopefully the car will make some record passes.
Anyone had the chance to make some passes with the nicer weather? There has to be a point of diminishing return if for no other reason but the track cooling down. I'll be logging all the weather data on each pass.
Some of you vets can speak with the voice of knowledge. What has been your experience?

    It's been a long summer!

I know my body can run a little better now! :D

[Sorry for changing the subject, but I had to vent just a little more heat!]

the diminished return is when the weather has fully leaned out the jets you are currently using. if that happens you may want to put in a fatter jet & see if you start speeding up again.

when you are too lean you may just slow slightly, or get a lazy pop at or near the finish line. at this point you should jet up or risk engine damage. it is always better to be slightly rich than lean.

I don't know about you, Rick, but mine picked up a little (on alcohol mind you). About .04 faster this weekend compared to 2 weekends ago.....but I did better my best 60' with a 1.27....earlier I thought I had set myself a new 60' record, but when I got the timeslip, I was disappointed with a 1.31. Upon further inspection, the car tripped the 60' timer with the rear wheels. Too bad I can't afford a video camera. Donations, anyone?

Car ran DEADLY consistent....driver was anything but. 4 runs, 3 7.98s and one 7.978. 125.3x mph every time.

Maybe I should have the heads ported and see if I can get 'er into the 5's (1/8). Last run of the day, and the best 60' with the 1.27 I let off just before I got to the 1/8 finish (red light) and ran a 6.16/98. Normally runs 113 in the 1/8.

I just got back ...managed to get only 4 passes in, other cars were breaking left and right. Again the best pass was before the sun went down, a 5.94 and a 1.27 with a 9...60 ft( a personal best also) only decent light I managed was on that run...504. The rest of the night my rt's sucked but the car was dead on...3-- 5.96's all with high 1.28's 60's.
Temperature dropped 20 points in 4 hours but the humidity went up 30 points, the dew was so thick I had water on the roof of the car, I felt the car get loose on the big end a few times, probably from moisture on the track.
One thing I'm learnin for sure...high humidity and high dew points are an ET killer. I think the only reason the car stayed dead on was the drop in temp.

never been there... i race at SIR... i have thought about going to firebird.... but i am not real anxious to try and drive the maverick 120 miles at once just yet... i want to make sure that the overheting dilemma has been solved...but now that winter is coming,....it is possible i might be able to make a trip out... but i will have to have a place to stay the night...
