well, first let me say that the Hudson's are a great couple! I am very thankful to know them. Now, he took it to the track tonight to shake it down a little and I got to go with him. He only made one pass and I do not remember the #'s by heart but here is the "adjusted" version. He eased it off the line, rolled out about 15 feet or so then hit the throttle, went to about 1/2 track and then coasted through the traps. 60 foot was a 2. something 330 was a 5. something 660 was a 8.4 something (I think) Lots of something there But when he hit the gas that thing started hunting. Its gonna be a rocket once he gets it dialed in. I am figuring on low 6's easy. Hopefully he will get on here and give better details. It was my first time to the track since my car broke and let me just say this: I WANT TO RACE
Here's how a night of me thinking about drag racing and watching last years footage goes: , , , , , , , , , , If there were a sleeping smiley face, it would be here.
That car sounds lethal. I am supposed to go racin next sunday. Probably takin the stallion for kicks. Been a long winter. Dan
Its Running John, thanks for the kind words. Sorry it took so long to talk about something that happened a week ago. It seems that the only time I have to get on the board is when I'm at work. I took the car to the track last Wednesday for some shakedown. Everything on the car is new and needs to be broke in. I rode around the pits a couple of times. The brakes worked and nothing leaked. I went up to the line made a short burnout. I puttered off the line, 60 ft 2.14, then hit the gas and ran through second and third, 330 ft 5.? The car began shaking, "old tires that were not balanced" so I pushed in the clutch and coasted to 8.? at 71 mph. The brakes also worked on the other end. I was impressed that the car ran and went straight. Everything seemed to work. The engine would pop out of the right bank when letting off the throttle. I found that the car was only running on 7 cylinders because I forgot to adjust the # 3 exhuast valve lash which was at about .1-.2. Lucky that it didnt drop the valve. Glad I went home after one light run. I checked the leakdown and the rings are seated with 2% leakdown. Changed the plugs and put in synthetic oil in the engine and trans. New tires, (that are balanced) all the way around. Will be doing more testing in Indianapolis at IRP on Thursday 26th, Louisville @ Ohio Valley Friday the 27th and Indianapolis on Saturday 28th.
