alright guys youv been awesome at helping me out with questions on my mav. but i am in need of some desperate help with this damn tranny.... is there anyone near longview, wa that could help me put this damn thing in...at first the new trannys bellhousing wouldn fit so i put the old one on.....after i started bolting the thing back on the bellhousing cracked which prevented the t. converter from turning at all....its just been one thing after the other with this thing and if theres anyone around my location that could just stop by my place and give me some advice i would really apreciate it. chris
Chris, wish i were closer... the converter has always given me a fit. it needs to be seated in the transmission and also get the bolt holes lined up in the flexplate. also if it has a drain plug it has only one way it will go in the flexplate...then get it on the lineup pins... the first time install is a learning nightmare...once you get it, then you know how everything works together... don't forget the motor plate... good luck and maybe someone close can stop by and give you a hand... ...Frank...
It is for a 170 and 200. You might be able to find one on-line... If you are close to Seattle I believe I have one.
And I checked and I have one just like your picture - starter on top and all! Come on up and pick it up - anytime, just be sure to call ahead so I am at home when you get here. 6522 51 Ave So. Seattle, WA. 98118 206.725.0881
Well, since you ask I can only say it deserves to be put to work. It free as long as you come and get it. Paul
Wow! What a deal. I live in Pacific, Wa. I'm between Seattle & Tacoma. Stop by when you get the bellhousing. You can look over my parts cars & misc parts in my workshop.... Paul is the man!!!!!!
When you put the TC in make sure it clicks in 2X. if you have to pull the bellhousing in with the bolts, it will crack. Should go pretty close by itself. Don't feel bad. Ask me how I know.
The torque converter has two splines that have to be lined up and then the pump has to engage the flats on the snout of the converter. That makes a total of three "clicks".
