For all you 460 Maverick guys, what kind of headers are you using? I was trying to use some Hooker 460 Fox swap headers, but can't get them to fit right. I can almost get them to fit, but many there are some better options. I thinking about resorting to making my own set. What have you guys done on yours?

    Thanks
    Mark

Our front frame rails are so narrow, I find it hard to imagine any 'off the shelf' header fitting.
The one set I have seen here on the site goes over the frame rail and down into the rear corner of the fender well. Do a search, he made his own headers and they look really nice.
Then there are 2 others I have seen, one uses stock manifolds from what I can tell from the pics, and the other uses a 70 Mustang front subframe, so headers for that year/model fit off the shelf.

I would love to do this swap one day. I am jealous!
Post pics when you are done!
    Good luck
    Dave

Stahl makes a set that SHOULD work. I have a set designed for a windsor 9.5" deck in a tube chassis...they fit good, but they are for a race car. They hang pretty low, but they flat work! I believe Stalhl designed the BBF headers around the same basic chassis so they should be real close.

I bought mine as a "kit". No welding was done to the tubes. The box was sent to me with 8 preformed tubes, 2 collectors, 2 flange adapters, and 2 flanges. I had to cut & weld as I needed to; as Stahl sends them with the tubes being a little longer than needed. They weren't that expensive either, IIRC. Around $350 a few years ago. Don't know what they are now. They have a website or you can call Jere or Judy & get more details. Good people to deal with.

Mine were custom built......There is a fellow from indiana that has the green comet from the roundup his had the fox body swap headers but I believe they had to do some mods to them.....mine are fenderwell exit. I did some surching before I did mine I think the block huggers that sanderson makes might fit.

I built mine myself. Started out with a set of Hedman 1-7/8 diameter set for a 79 F250 2 wheel drive and 4 J bends. I think the headers were like $120 from Summit. Actually the headers were almost the same price as a bunch of people wanted just for flanges and the Hedmans have a cool gasketless ball and socket design collector. Mine fit just like regular headers down between the frame rail. I shot for 31" primary length. Then I cut up an old 3-1/2" driveshaft out of a 1 ton van and made 19" collectors. I also removed the flange between nthe exhaust ports , so the pipes are nont interconnected. Makes plug changes easier.

These pics were taken by my son so they have the perspective of someone 4 feet tall.

Edit - Oh yea, I have stock Mustang II and still have the heater. I thought the right side was harder than the left side.

I saw Jay Perez at the MCCI Indiana Mini-Meet today. He did use fox Mustang swap headers. Each tube goes on individually. The driver's side took very little work to fit....just had to adjust one tube around the rack and pinion knuckle. The passenger side took quite a bit of work.
