Have you ever given thought to a carbon fiber rear valence/gravel pan? Apparently the only option is the mustang one which is "close" and it sounds like a lot of people have one that has seen better days. I know of one customer right off the bat. ;)

Yep, we all know of the quality of Maverick Man's work :thumbs2:.... he has several projects in the works and it may be awhile before this project, if he considers it, ... in the meantime there are fiberglass ones being offered....
Here is one company that advertises one.. (I do not know of their quality)

Scroll to about midway to see the pic of it.

    Hope this helps.

I thought I read somewhere on here that the quality was not very good from this company. The big perk for me of carbon fiber is it would not need to be painted to look good but it could be.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P

Yes I have but I have never seen or had one that was good enough to actually duplicate. Not to mention. I own a 73 and 73 and below are different ;)

    But I can make one.

As far as the other company.... Anyone can feel free to order one. But people always tell me after the fact... "I should have just ordered yours" so be forewarned unless you love doing body work and love things that won't fit.... Don't say I never warned you and leave me the opportunity to say... I told you so. ;)

i might also add i started making parts in the first place because there was nothing out there that fit right. ;) i've personally owned these "other" parts before i and i have no idea how these companies can get away with selling this stuff and people think it is acceptable.

So there are two different styles of rear valance? I also own a 73. Someone has to have a nice spare laying around. So is this something you may do if there is enough interest?

Yes, the 1970-1972 is slightly different than the 1973 style. A few of the hole locations are different. Nothing a drill and bit can't solve.

Why a carbon gravel pan. Im all for saving weight but some parts just seem like a waste of effort to me. The rear gravel pan weighs little already. Its got to be close to 5-10 lbs. How much can we realisitcally save in having it made out of carbon? Add to it that its not in a very showcase kind of position and the reasons to have it in carbon are fewer still. There are pleanty of other places to take weight out of the car before we get to this point... Like a trunk lid. ;)

I was not thinking about weight savings. I was thinking less likely to end up bent and will look nice without having to paint to replace damaged ones.

If you throw in some exhaust holes, it would be more appealing or "value added". "Build it and they will come".

exactly..waste of time the thing weighs nothing at all..the trunk hes working on though..great idea..saves ton of weight and will be in a "showcase" position.. the only other item i could see being made in carbon fiber would be fenders, and that would be a very long and tough mould to make so i can't see it being worth it, though they would be stronger and not "pop" when you lean over them.

i think this would be more about having a replacement part rather then a lighter part to be honest.

hum... if you want to sell it let me know what year is it off of.

good idea but what are the preferences on where they will be exactly placed since everyone exhaust it some where different?

so how slightly are we talking about? for example if i made one from a 73 and just leave no holes in the part would it work on a 70-72 as long as they drilled their own holes? also that goes the same for if i had a 70-72 and drilled holes for a 73?

Yep....if you made one with no holes you would be covered 1970-1973. The 1973 does have the angle of the mounting tabs at the ends "cut" at a different angle...but no biggie.
