Next week I'm going in to get my 4pt cage from autopower. We were gonna do the 6pt which would have the bars but it makes it pretty hard to get in and out of the car. I'll still be able to use my back seats so that's really nice. They going to be welding so I figure I'll remove as much from the trunk as possible.

It was custom built by a certified Alston Chassis builder to my Specs.

I wanted full use of the rear seat (removeable cross bar) and Use of my armrests while driving (No banging elbows on the front bars) and ease of entry/exit of the car.
My car spends ALOT more time on the street than at the track so I wanted this "User friendly" cage. Also note that the Hoop is tilted back slightly so that it it is aligned with the Door pilar... from the outside,( side view of the car) you dont even see the Hoop at all.

I didn't know you could have those bends in the bars next to the seats. Rick showed me the bars I would need for a 6pt and it made it very hard getting in and out of the car. but with those bends that's not too bad.

The NHRA rule book states that the Bars must pass the drivers arm (while seated) between the shoulder and the elbow. http://www.nhraonline.com/contacts/tech_faq.html I know that the cage would be stronger if the bars where straight ,but I thought this was a fair compromise considering my cars intended use.

Yes ,the removable bar is a great Idea for a car that will see More street use .

You can store the side bars in your shop until you are ready to go race.

Thanks for the kind words about my car too guys.

We haven't discussed the price yet in detail. I should find out Monday what it will cost me. I have looked into another place that quoted me $1800 for a full cage. A coworker of mine has a close friend that does cages for offroad trucks so that's another option if it gets too pricy.

The removable is a really good idea, the guy at Autopower was saying it's not as safe. Anyone heard that before?

They also make a kit to make the door bars swing out, and are held in place with a pin. Makes it easier to get in and out....
