Axle back spacing

    I have a 9" Ford rear end out of a Ford torino that has been shortend 1.5" on both ends with the big bearing ends. I have 1999 Ford Explorer disk brakes for the car but need to buy new axles and need to know what axle back spacing would I need? Has anyone done a axle like this with rear disk brakes?

    you need a 2.5" offset for the explorer brakes.

    yes. spacers will be needed to make up the difference in the thicker brake stand from the drum backing plate.

    Currie will sell them to you. They're not expensive.
