Im about to order some perches to my mustang 9" rear, but I dont what size the tube diameter is or how wide it needs to be. It has the tapered tubes like an 8" rear. Ive searched but havent come up with any thing.
it doesnt really look like that but im pretty sure it from a mustang. the holes in the perch for centering is about an inch around other than that i think the perch is in the right place Picture 238.jpg Picture 239.jpg
well i just went a measured it, it is 54.25" from fange to flange which i found is a 67 mustang rear. I have an early bronco rear that is 53" but the axle flange is the truck bolt pattern, my next question is will a maverick drum fit on the larger flange if it is redrilled to the smaller bolt pattern? Also can i modify the backing plate to work on the big bearing rear?
Sorry...can't answer that question. When you said Mustang tapered tubes I though of the 65-66 Mustang rear that fits a Maverick. This is what I call a tapered tube.
Well it is tapered just not that much. I think Im going to cut the tubes off my 8" and weld them to a 9" center to have a maverick 9" rear
I hope your not talking about doing this in your shed? and will be taking it to some one qualified to do what your talking about otherwise it could be a catastroyphic event and you could take out some other Maverickers family!!!!!
A lot of people narrow their own axles tubes, Im not shortening the axle shafts. There are good write ups on how to do it like this onehttp://home.bresnan.net/~dazed/narrowinga9.html
...... Narrowing a rear end on saw horses is not a good idea. It needs to be put in a jig to do it right.
