As you can see, I've been a member here for awhile, but haven't posted for years (04 or 05). I joined up when I was re-bitten by the Maverick bug and I was searching high and low for a Maverick to replace the one I lost in 90 (if I remember correctly). Well, I didn't find one and ended up on the dark side wearing a bow tie, if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, I love the 68-72 Novas- I've had a few since the last time I posted here, and the Chevelle was fun too, but out of all the cars I've ever had, my Maverick was the most fun and produced the best memories for me. It was 1989 when I purchased my Maverick- a low mileage 302 car with a bench seat. I bought it right here In Fairmount, IN- the same town Craig got his (now) Orange Grabber. Memory won't let me recall the year, but it was a small bumper car with a bench seat, low, low miles and priced cheap from an old lady who decided she was too old to drive anymore. She sold it to me with the promise I would take care of it- so I assumed that meant headers, cam, intake, carb, etc... (in retrospect I doubt that's what she meant). In 1990, I joined the Marines, and bought a newer car to run around on base with. I didn't want to have to worry about the Maverick while on deployment to Desert Storm, so I left it back home. While overseas, my father took it upon himself to sell the car- it needed paint, so he thought it was just a pos (he's a Vette guy, so they think weird anyways). He sold it CHEAP without ever opening the hood... So, fast forward to now, and you have an old Maverick faithful wanting to return to his roots. That old Mav was the first 'real' hot rod I ever had, and still my favorite. Yea, I fell into Chebby with the whole low-cost thing and all, but it really didn't do it for me. So now I am searching for a 'decent' car- hopefully drivable, preferably small bumpered, and definately 2-door. I'm not afraid of a bit of work, but I'd like to steer clear of as much floor rust as I can. I've lost interest in my 90's crew project, and it's got a brand new cab and doors and a straight axle conversion started. But, as soon as I sell it, it will fund a new Maverick! So if anyone knows of anything decent, let me know!
