Well I got rid of the 28 inch slicks and picked up a set of 26x8.5 E/T Drags.

Car is loaded and ready to go to Silver Dollar raceway at noon on Saturday(18th) . I plan to make a few regular passes to see how much difference the shorter tires make. :drive:

Then I`m gonna launch it off the two step and see how that goes.:29:

Last I`m going to drop the exhaust system and run it with open headers.

I`ll post the results here tomorrow evening.:yup:

Mike, I want details - air pressure, etc. Those are the same tires I have for my '73 Grabber.

Welcome back. How do these numbers compare to the 28" tall tires and at what rpm did you hit the traps at? (also, what rear gear ratio do you have??).

Racing is good. :yup: I'm sure you had fun.

Thanks Guys :) With the 28" tires , the best run was 7.95 1/8th mile
and 12.45 at 109 in the quarter.

    I have 4.11 gears and
I was shifting at 6,300 and went through the traps at about 6,300 (just what I wanted it to do).

I`m really happy with the way the car runs considering its what I call a mis-matched combo ( 308 cid with Victor jr. heads and only 9.2 :1 compression !)

And I NEVER do anything to it but wipe the engine down before cruise -ins and change the oil once in a while.

By the way Terry, I started out with 20 psi in the slicks and never did let any air out because the car hooked up fine all day as it was.

Great numbers. Its right where I want mine to run. Mine could if I could ever get it to hook up.
