Just a heads up for anyone that loves to watch people spend ridiculous money on anything that rolls across the block. Call me a dreamer, but I'll be tuning in over the next six days. I know I couldn't afford to buy 99% of the vehicles, but I still get a kick out of watching the action. Man does my wife hate Barrett Jackson week
Ditto My wife is lucky I leave for houston tonite and won't be home till friday but after that SPEED chanel all weekend
Yup, so does mine...but she has learned to deal with it...I think... There can be times where 2 TV's are going (so I don't miss anything) then the phone starts ringing, with all my car buddies calling to discuss whats going on. Plus you can watch it live on the internet. Holy crap!! It's on now! I didn't realize it!!
Thanks for the reminder I've been waiting for a month for it to start and here I was watching People's Court instead
Thanks, I forgot. My wife and I were watching the DVR of Hawaii 5.0 and then I read your post. She isn't talking to me now. Thanks again.
I'm glad that im not working in the stores anymore around now. I worked in one of the closest Checker Auto Parts (checker schucks Kragen-Now Oreilly's) to the auction. You wouldnt believe some of the last minute things they would need or the random parts that would break before the cars auction day. Guys wanting all kinds of crazy stuff we didnt have in stock. And we must have sold 100 car dusters in a week.
Anyone see the 65 mustang with the paxton super charger or the chevy truck with a supercharged 460, WOOHOO!!!
The first few days you see a few cars go across that you think...wow, that's a good deal for only $30,000. Then reality sinks in when you think about it only costing $3,000 when it was new. But I sure wish I had the bucks to be there. Guess I'll just have to keep dreamin like you guys!
I agree. It's a crying shame what it cost to build a car these days. I owned a Mustang Restoration shop in the early 80's. I was doing a complete show car restoration on an early Mustang for between $6000-$8000. And that was everything! My...how times have changed. Nowadays it would cost $30,000-$40,000 to do the same jobs.
15 years ago we did a 67 Mustang at work. Front floors and complete rear trunk area and rails. Cost 5000 out the door painted. Owner thought that was too much money at the time. Be lucky to get the prep and paint done for that now. Thankfully my car was an after hours project at work with donated materials. Couldnt afford what we did to it.
Last night there was a nice looking 64 Impala, and it sold for 15 grand....well worth the money, cheaper than doing the work yourself. I've been shopping for a Model "A", or a "T", and figure I'm better off buying one done.
