I have been lurking and reading up for a couple of months... My name is Cody, I am 31 and live just outside Memphis, TN, and recently married. I own a 1964 Fairlane 500 "restomod", and just recently bought a 1971 Maverick to build for my wife. It has around 55,000 original miles, and we will be going all the way through it as a nice driver and to go to car shows with. She wants to stay original for the most part, so I will just do the common upgrades that most judges will never catch (front disks, hidden stereo, Pertronix, etc.) It is an original 200/C4 car, and it had been sitting up for 18 years. I put a set of points, wires, cap, rotor button, and condensor on it, put some gas in it, and it fired right up! We will pull it all out to detail, and I allready have a line on a 1974 four door that is five lug with front disks. The car is a deep metallic green with green interior, we will be going back with the exterior color, but changing the interior to black. I will be doing a hidden stereo (http://www.soundmove.com/secretaudio.htm) and such to make the car more fun to drive... I am used to building modified cars, so building a car that sneaks under the radar at car shows in stock class while still being fun to drive should be a challenge!
to the board! Sounds like a real keeper you got there...would love to see pics. Lots of good advice here..as you probably arleady know. Just use the "Search" button to find what you looking for...or ask...
welcome to the board. i've got a 64 fairlane 2dr, not a 500. need to get off of my rear and start of some of my projects. good luck with the mav.
pics I don't have many pics of the Maverick yet, but I will try to post some "before" photos of it soon, along with some pics of the Fairlane and such... my Dad has a 1961 Ford Unibody pickup with only 30,000 miles on it, as well as a 1951 "shoebox" with full leadsled treatment.
