had brand new carpet and winter tires. rusty quarters and a 250, brand new carb, with a cheep glass pack! sounded like an old milk truck
I started with this heap traded my pinto project for it. pics dont show the bullet holes that were in the trunk and roof
It was parked with it's front end facing the road. It was so ugly that everyone was afraid to go past the front end in order to get to the back end. I am surprised no one stole the Grabber hood.
This is my '72 before I bought it, some time in the summer or early fall of 2005: At that point, it was a parts car for ford84stepside's '74. His car was sitting to the left of it, just out of the picture. Early December 2005, swapped everything over from my '74 Grabber: This is the very first day I had it in drivable condition, some time in mid-December 2005: This is in late February 2006, when I had been driving it daily for 2 months. My uncle's house had burned down in January, and I was making regular, constant trips to NC and back at the time. Thus, by this point, I already had racked up close to 10,000 miles: Mid summer 2007, around 40,000 miles. Broke a strut rod shortly after this, and it didn't get driven for a while. Fixed the strut rod, swapped the very tired 250 I had in it out for a 30,000 mile 200 in October 2007, and continued on... January 2008, somewhere around 50,000 miles: I started working at Kubota right after that pic, and between commuting 70 miles a day, and making regular 200 mile trips back and for to NC sometimes 2-3 times a week, I really had started racking up the mileage. This is June 2008 when I had it all cleaned up for Fun Ford Weekend, in the 75,000 range. Dixie Maverick stampede back in the spring of this year: Newest pic I have of the car, from the Dixie Maverick meet at Summit back in July. Had around 92,000 in this pic: I totally stopped driving it a month after that and started driving my Chevy truck daily until late October. I've been driving it daily again for a little over a month, and have been driving the hell out of it. Currently about 2,000 miles short of hitting 100k. Wanted to do it by the end of the year, but looks like it'll be early January.
It was what I had on my '74 Grabber, and was the only hood I had at the time. A Comet hood is better then no hood, right? Still have that hood out in my shed, covered in dust and cobwebs now.
