Can anyone tell me if in 1971 the factory bench seats came with headrests? My 71 Grabber does not have headrests, but when I run my hands over the top of the seat it feels like there is something covered up by the upholstery, like as if it used to have a headrest there. I'm wondering if a previous owner recovered the seats and removed the headrests.

Every 2 door Maverick bench seat I've ever seen had head rests.

Yeah, I think all Mavericks had headrests. Wasn't it a safety requirement?

I believe headrests became mandatory in 1968. Man that was a great year. The year my parents were blessed with my arrival. :biglaugh: :rofl2:

So, if I was born late in 68 does that technically make me a 69 model? just wondering.

Some 68 US built cars had headrests. Was a mandate for the 69 model year.

Maybe you could use a knife to cut a slit & just slide some Headrests in? I may have an extra pair if you need them. Let me know & I will look.

Thanks for all the responses guys! Sounds like I should have headrests but don't. So far I have had three offers of headrests. I appreciate that. I really would like to put buckets in my mav at some point, so I don't know if I want to bother with the headrests. If I decide to keep the bench then I definately would want to get some. :D
