I have read everything I can find about headers and found some fit and some don`t. I went hooker and found a different part# for a Comet. The Comet header has a smaller tube. I am restoring a 1972 GT that came from the factory with a 302, manual steering, manual brakes, manual trans, and a factory floor shifter. The only change going back together will be a set of Eledbrock aluminum heads and headers. Is there a set of headers made that will fit without needing a hammer or torch ? Thanks Vince

I'm sure someone with actual experience here will chime in eventually.. but IIRC most of the fitment issues are related to "power this or that" and clutch or column shift linkages.

Your car seems to sidestep most of those potential clearance issues pretty easily.

I have a set of Hedmans on the car with a C4. trans shift rod and lock rod would be the issue for you.....I have ask some of the older members and they have suggest shorty headers, Doug thorleys. I have the long tubes and I am trying to work out factory shift linkage issues now.....might want to look hard at the shortys.

As the guy who discovered that Hooker 6901 are the best fitting header with a floor shift manual, I reiterate. Hooker 6901. I had the original Doug Thorley years and years ago and the Hooker's are a much better fit.

Pictures of 6901's on stand, and installed, hope this helps ya. I am not saying one brand is better than the other, i have only used 6901's, this is my 3rd set, 3 different Mavs.

i tried hooker 6901's on my car..i couldn't even get them in..wouldn't fit.. hedman shortys had the best clearance on the towers and went in...like maybe 5mins max? they flop right in.
