Just curious as anybody tried a bumper conversion where you move the big bumper back futher towards the car. I looked under neath and it looks like it could be done. What do you guys think. Dean

Are there any modifications that need to be done to the body.

there are pics of it floating around here in the gallery. I believe when I did it, I made different brackets and also welded and shaved the bolts, along with the sectioning. no body mods were needed to do it.

I Have some pics of my frount bumper slide on my 73 All i did was measure how far i wanted it to go back cut out that much out and weld the bumper mounting plate back on. took me all of half an hour to do.... supposing you have a welder and something to cut it with like cutting wheel plasma cutter:D (like cutting with a felt pen) or a torch will get it done then just grind everything flat and your good to go. I can email you some pics but keep in mind mine is a 73 and has a mid sized bumper in the frount and small in the rear.

Hey Comet 73, That would be great. I hope to do this in the winter with all the other projects that I have. My email address is deshjoca@sbcglobal.net. By the way how far are you from the Falls. My daughter and her husband are there for a last minuet vacation. She starts her new teaching job on monday.

Definitely makes those big bumpers look much better. When you look back at the 50s and 60s, a lot of those bumpers were kinda big too. But they didnt stick out 2 feet.

I did mine too. Took maybe 30 minutes, but my bumper brackets are thin steel and the bumper itself is gutted. I like the look a lot better.
