Big bumper tuck

Hi everybody,

I was wondering if anybody knows about tucking the big bumper I have a 1977 mercury comet that I switched to a maverick front, so the bumper sticks out quite a bit. So I was just wondering the best way to tuck those big suckers closer to the body?

 

Has it been done before? I can't picture it. Most just do the small bumper swap.

 

Well I would like to do the small bumpers but rounding up all the parts and things takes a lot of time and more importantly money so I was just thinking of tucking the big bumpers in to make them look better, but if anybody has cost affective ideas on small bumpers I'm all ears

No offence man haha I bought the car already converted but it just looks like there's a giant ledge on my car but I'm more or less looking at a how to DIY

 

And I was just teasing . Mav boys and Comet men jab each other around here..
I have seen threads showing how some guys done it. Like I said. Use the search function. You might get your answers sooner..

 

I always thought the rail could push in once the pinch was released..

 

Plus, a Comet uses the two rear holes of the four in the bumper shock, slide it back to the front two.

Yeah I was under the assumption that you could just slide the whole mount back without having to cut anything?

 

You can slide it back, to stock Maverick location, but if you want it tighter you'll have to cut it.
