So I have my old high school car in my posession. She is a 71 comet with a pretty built 351c, 4 speed and a 9 inch rear. The scope of the project is to do to it what I dreamed of in high school but didnt have the money or expertise. I intend to tub it and put it on a full chassis and make a wicked street strip machine out of here. So I have been collecting parts and so far have gather up: A narrow 9" 4.11 gears on a strange center with strange Axles A set of old school 14" wide slots (these are rare as hens teeth) A complete Jegster front end with rack and pinnion/shocks and Comp steering column Set of racing buckets set of 5 point harnesses. My big dilema is what the frame construction will look like (anyone have some pictures of theirs?) Also I am undecided on what enging to go with, dont get me wrong, the cleveland is a screamer but since the shock towers will be going away my options are wide open for a serious engine build. Looking to get opinions before I start cutting her up.
Take a look at my images - I also have a 351C now a stroked 393, 4 speed and a nine inch rear - no towers and caged
im in the process of doing a full chassis on my car. check out my build thread to see the magic happen
I really cant decide what engine to go with, I thought about staying with the 351 Cleveland but not sure. current motor is 12:1 compression, roller valve train, 4v headsand a tunnel ram with dual fours. I do have a really good set of heads from a NASCAR team that would make a wicked boss 302 or a nice Cleveland. but still I'm really considering a big block.
Color me jealous! Very nice and look forward to seeing you around as your project progresses. If you like the 385 series motors.. stroking a 429/460 is getting cheaper and cheaper these days too.
