There’s a ton of info out there and it’s almost dizzying. When talking about cleaning up and machining a used block, what is better, hot tank/boiling or baking and steel shot blasting?

Also when it comes to Magnaflux, one shop is telling me they don’t have the “expensive” setup/tank and use Magnaflux on the surfaces you can see and get to but it costs a lot more to dunk the whole block in Magnaflux. If I was worried about internal cracks in the water jacket, etc. that I should pressure test which can get expensive too. I don’t know much about those processes. Is it necessary?

Well say 500 crank HP. Came from a running 94 f150. Can still see hone marks on the cylinder walls.
