Thanks. Wish I had known this before I made the big JEGS order. This is just a little $14 piece that I didn't know I needed.

I will call around Houston tomorrow and see if the guys that have my extra AN plumbing stuff have this and buy it all in one stop. AND make sure it all fits before I pay for shipping or drive it home.

OK, should start another thread, but figured I have a couple guys attention. Where is the best place to mount the bottle?

Mine will be in the trunk, and I was liking the idea of putting it on drivers side just behind the trunk hinges. But I am afraid it will be almost impossible to remove the bottle for filling since I won't be able to slide it forward to clear the mounts.

I am trying to keep the center part of the trunk empty for groceries...:D

Is there a different type of bottle mount that would let me get the bottle out if I mounted it here?

bryant helped me mount mine so that it sits like yours but the head points a bit more to the passenger side. That way I can loosen the bolts and easily slide it out.

And thanks Bryant for reminding me. So we got to the Qualcomm race and i guess the bottle was empty. i hooked up a pressure gauge to it and it didn't work, thinking the gauge was busted I went for a run. I hit the bottle and the car totally bogged down. I had an 1/8th mile with an 11.5 second run. Then when I opened the bottle I realized the thing was dang near empty, but it would still hiss and huff and puff but I guess not enough juice to do anything. lesson learned. locktite.

I might buy these brackets so my bottle will stay straight, and then I can just loosen the straps and lift the bottle straight up. Good point on the locktite, and also thinking of putting a gauge in-line just to help me keep up with how much is in there.

i wouldn't spend the money on those brackets. realistically you aren't gonna mess with the bottle all that much. IMHO. that money can go into finishing up the fuel cell.
I have a gauge inline as well, I think I got it for like $50.

scoop keep the stock brackets and mount them where you have them. now goto home depot and get two hinges. now cut the brackets on the left side opisite of the opening. now take your new welder and weld the hinges in where you made the cuts so now the straps will swing clear and you can load the bottle from the top instead of the front. ive been meaning to do this to mine for years but just havent goten around to it. im sure mo will read this and have me doing it to his and ill do mine at the same time.

Those brackets are only $17, but I like the way Bryant is thinking!!! :thumbs2::thumbs2::thumbs2:

That allows me to lift the bottle straight up and out.

    Can't wait!!! :dancing:

Weather is beautiful, and hope my trunk mat comes in today so I can get started on putting this all back together tomorrow and over the weekend. Weather is supposed to be clear and high 60s/low 70s all weekend:dance:

In case you guys haven't noticed, I miss working on my car, and I miss having it running. And spring/fall is the only time you can work on them in Texas. Too hot all summer and you sweat through your clothes, and too nippy in the winters most of the time. So there is about a 3-5 week window in fall and spring where weather is perfect. That is NOW!

Thanks Bryant!!! Took 30 minutes to go to the store and get the parts, another 30 to cut and weld them up. $12 for all the stainless hardware.

I also tack welded the bolt on the bottom and went with stainless all around, and wing-nuts on top.
