One other issue that arose today is that my temp gauge went out. Has worked fine for the past 6 months or so, then today it quit working, and I tracked it down to the inline fuse. Put a new one in and it worked fine for about 10 minutes and tripped another fuse. It is a 5A fuse, blade style. What is going on and what should i do to fix this? Inline fuse is on the "hot" wire coming in to the gauge from a "switched" power source.
Called AutoMeter tech support to verify that I have the right sized fuse. He told me that if it is tripping like that, it is most likely a faulty gauge, and send it in if within 12 months of purchase (Feb 07) and they will fix or repair.
Just thought...It worked on the way to the muffler shop, then was dead when I picked it back up... Wonder if the welding they did on it screwed it up. When I do welding on the car, I hit the kill switch (not sure if it helps, but better safe than sorry).
You know,,,,it's pretty neat sometimes doing it all by yourself, ,,,but it gets a heck of a lot better when you got someone else involved! the above info is no way intended to offend anyone nor is it intended to make eddie's mind wander an giggle!
Actually quite hilarious,,,waiting for him to answer himself. I would look over all the wiring, did a wire get grounded or scuffed? Dan
