I borrowed a, Feb 1970 Super Stock & Drag Illustrated, Magazine . The feature article is Doug Nash replacing the 200 I-6, (I know, what's up with that ), with a Boss 302 and 4-speed. If anyone can post the article, I'll scan it tomorrow and send it to you. Let me know, Ken
Yeah its been done quite a few times , they even make swap headers for the boss :mepeeingon6cylinders: :evilsmile
I have a book with the same swap. I don't think Nash did the one I have. I know it's not in a Magazine, but rather a soft cover book. I think it was sold over the counter as part of Fords 'Power Parts' program. Don't know that for sure though. It is branded on the back cover with "Peterson Publishing" though. The Mav was fitted with a bone stock Boss 302 driveline, EXCEPT for the close ratio toploader. The article said that it sucked to drive and they were planning a wide ratio swap, like stock Boss, to make it more streetable. They did a really nice job on everything but the grille, IMO. This was in late 69, and Grabber or signal grilles weren't around. They wanted something more aggressive, so they made a louvered grille out of wood lathe. Looked really corny IMO. If your article has a car with a wooden grille, looks like venetian blinds, then it is the same car. Btw: I used to have a set of headers for that swap. Good stuff, but high rpm.
