Thank you for allowing me to join your organization. My 2nd. car in life was a 72 maverick that i truely enjoyed. That was about 1974, & i was just a kid with a car. On to 2010, i purchased a 70 boss 302 & have thoroughly enjoyed it. Going to the car shows around las vegas with it is always enjoyable. but i always remembered my maverick. Well 1 month ago i finally bought another one. A 71 Grabber W/ a 302,Granada front disc brakes,9inch rear w/3;89 gears,93 t-bird 4 speed aod tranny, & Escort EXP Bucket seats. You just cant believe all the people stopping by at the car show & sharing a story about a Maverick in thier past. My friend ,Dean, who is a Mustang expert & has owned 6 Magazine cars is dumbfounded at the amount of attention this car attracts as it sits next to his 69 Shelby, 70 Boss 302 or recently restored & gorgeous 65 Fastback. And the Maverick is showing its age, as it is in need of a paint job. My boss 302 is Calypso Coral {orange} & i think the Maverick will look Awesome next to the Boss,Same color.
A guy with a Hemi Cuda learned about the lure of the "Maverick" a few year ago at a car show, he was pissed people would walk by his car to see a Maverick....
from Northeast Pennsylvania I see a lot of Mustangs at the many car shows that I attend each year but hardly any Mavericks/Comets. When I finally do find one, I'm right over there talking to the owner about the car. I find so many people will walk right past a long line of flashy muscle cars to walk directly over to the Maverick or Comet. It becomes hard to carry on a decent conversation ,with the owner, as he is constantly talking to others at the same time
Yup, similar to a VW bug, transportation for the masses and at over two million sold, Ford was defiantly getting their slice of the pie... Even if they didn't own a Mav, almost everyone knew someone who did... Still few of these gawkers have a clue about a ZL1 Camaro, Hemi 'Cuda or Boss 429 Mustang, just another pony car to them... BTW, welcome
