I apparently put the brake light switch back on wrong, the switch is good but what stops it from rotating on the peg with the booster rod? if I anchor it say with twine. it takes barely any pedal movement. There is an indention on the u shaped side of the switch is anything that is supposed to engage that or is my gm oriented brain just not getting a simple brake switch?:slap:

I'll try that before work in the morning, I had tried it both ways around with the u sid pointing down, that image has the u pointing up and on the pedal side... could it be so simple?

yes, fairly simple... follow the diagram and you shouldn't have any problem.

It may have worked but I won't know ttill I get home from work and purchase a starter relay. It decided to fail when I went down to warm my car up this morning. So I had to find my wife a ride to and from work so I could use her car for my 35 mi commute.

so I had some other stuff come up that is now resolved, I reinstalled the switch exactly as that diagram indicated but it still only works with the switch anchored to the bottom of the pedal with twine. and i still dont see what stops the switch from rotating in reference to the pedal with the booster rod...:hmmm:

The booster rod should have a flat spot on the end of it that rests against the sprung portion of the switch. If it's not flat on the end you have the wrong rod.

it is flat but what stops the switch from rotating with the end of the rod. well that's about as clear as mud... time for ms paint after I finish cooking dinner

Its been a while since I have been on found the problem with my break switch 5 min ago. I had the black bushing that goes in the booster push rod in backward and I had .004 in play between the push rod and the switch. luckily I also had .001 in steel shim stock ;)

I guess reman boosters should be checked more thoroughly
